Students of all ages are welcome at the park. We are currently working with educators at WKU and Allen County Schools to develop curriculum to meet the needs of today’s students. We are also partnering with informal educators to ensure a variety of educational activities for students and lifelong learners.
In our first fall, we have had students from WKU and Allen County Schools on site to learn about archaeological surveys. Students received a history lesson on the Civil War, discussed connections of modern subjects to archaeology and learned the methods of archaeologists. History, agriculture and JRTOC students from Allen County Scottsville High participated in a cemetery restoration project. They learned not only how to carefully reposition and clean headstones, but also the history behind the people in the cemetery and how cemeteries were historically laid out in our culture.
